The 42nd annual Reunion of the Retzlaff Families was held at the Old Settlers Hall near Round Rock, Texas on July 16, 1989 with 91 relatives and 4 visitors present. It proved to be an excellent meeting place.

Visiting, picture taking, and catching up on the individual family books occupied the couple of hours before lunch, which was a catered, barbecue meal and much enjoyed by all after Nolan Vance led the group in a prayer of thanks to our kind Heavenly Father.

Ron Rogers had charge of the business meeting after lunch. Some family statistics showed that Weldon and Mary Retzlaff traveled the greatest distance to attend; that Wyatt L. Smith at 87 was the oldest direct descendant present; and Cameron Ray Walker at 8 months the youngest.

With sorrow these deaths were reported: Owen Jay Retzlaff Aug. 29, 1988; and Jerry Wayne Hobbs May 4, 1989. Births reported were: Thomas Kane Kleinschmidt on Aug. 10, 1988; Richard Darrell Baca on Aug. 3, 1988; and Cameron Ray Walker on Nov. 14, 1988.

Allen North of Dallas, and Lexington in Lee county extended invitations for the 1990 reunion, and Lexington was chosen.

Donnie Retzlaff then spoke concerning the up-dated family history, of which a copy was being passed around. He stressed that it was being done by computer and data collected that day and within the next 30 days could be added before the final draft was completed. Orders were taken so he could have some idea of how many copies to make. Donnie gave some interesting bits of information concerning the extended family that he was able to compile with the computer.

Ron and Kathy Rogers and Geneva Retzlaff Tonahill and their helpers were heartily thanked for making it a day well spent with loved ones.
